The Challengers movie has been out for a little while now, so I am finally going to share my thoughts. The movie stars Zendaya, playing Tashi Donaldson, star tennis player. She meets her two love interests, Art Donaldson (Mike Faist) and Patrick Zweig (Josh O’Connor), who are best friends. It is obvious who she ends up with by the last names, but at first she dates Patrick. They end up in a big fight which leads him to skip her match, where Tashi has a huge injury that ends her career. That leads to Art and Tashi to start dating due to the fact that he was there, Art goes on to be a professional tennis player with Tashi as his coach. Patrick falls off and ends up broke in a low level but due to Art’s loss of confidence they end up at the same match.
I actually really liked this movie, it was a really cool idea and it was incredibly unique. Some of the camera shots were also insane, it was something I had never seen before. I was team Art through the entire movie, the only bad thing he did was meddling in Tashi and Patrick’s relationship when he was relatively young. The other two on the other hand I disliked so much, all of the actions they made were selfish. The acting was incredible and at some points I forgot I was in a movie theater, I was so focused on who was going to win. I do wish that we got to see who really won the game but I understand leaving it on that sort of cliff hanger.
Overall I would 100% see this movie again. Even though I am not normally a fan of non comedy movies I did enjoy it. I am interested to see what Zendaya will do next because I love her as an actor and she has yet to let me down in the movie world.
Love,
Lili
