Guilty

Guilty

Guilty

Content warning: assault and victim blaming.

I sit on the stand.

I have to tell the truth.

They ask what happened.

Then the questions.

Did you tease him?

How much were you drinking?

What did you say?

What were you wearing?

I was guilty when I walked into the room.

I’m being charged with his crime.

He gets to smile.

While I cry.

I made a mistake.

I should have known better.

I should have stayed home.

I should have covered up.

I’m Guilty

I wrote some poems for class and I’ve poured my heart into exploring these intense subjects that many people may relate to. “Guilty” confronts the injustices faced by survivors. Hope you Like it!

Love,

Lili
